Letter from the President

Speaker for May 7, 2008 April 29, 2008

Our featured speaker for our next one day meeting is Dr. Michael Leib, who is a Diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. Dr. Leib received his DVM from the University of Georgia. He completed his residency in internal medicine and a MS in Veterinary Clinical Sciences at Colorado State University. Since 1983 has has been at the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech. In 1992 he became Professor of Small Animal Medicine and in 2003 was promoted to become the C.R. Roberts Professor of Small Animal Medicine. In the Teaching hospital he serves as a staff internist and specialist in gastroenterology and endoscopy. Dr. Leib has received numerous teaching awards and has been an investigator on more that 25 funded research projects. He has authored 60 refereed journal articles, 23 book chapters, and 50 scientific abstracts in small animal gastroenterology. Dr. Leib was a member of the certification examination committee for the specialty of Internal Medicine of the ACVIM. The Academy is very pleased to host his presentation to our members in May.
