Hypertension and Kidney Disease

"The best index of hypertensive damage of the kidney is proteinuria. The presence of microalbuminuria or an elevated urine protein-to-creatinine ratio (> 0.5 in dogs, >0.4 in cats) is generally an indication for the use of an ACEI (e.g., enalapril or benazepril 0.5mg/kg once daily in cats or once to twice daily in dogs.) "
