The TOP Considerations when Purchasing a Digital Radiography System
11/07/2008
1. Image Quality- Only evaluate images obtained at a veterinary practice; NOT IMAGES SHOWN TO YOU BY A VENDOR.
2. Service and Vendor Reputation-You are relying on your vendor to pretty much organize a big chunk of your computer system. Why go with a vendor with a questionable track record?
3. Type of system you are purchasing-spend less money and get a full featured, DICOM compliant CR system rather than a cut rate DR system with no support and a crummy image.
4. Ease of Use- You will have to interact with this machine every day.
5. DICOM compatibility-
a. Does the vendor have a DICOM conformance statement?
b. Can you send images to any radiologist?
c. How does you vendor store images?
d. What will happen if you need to migrate you data in the future?
e. Can you send images to an offsite backup service if the images are not stored as a DICOM file?
f. Do they provide DICOM query/retrieve functionality?
g. Can you autoroute images?
